How Long Does it Take to Recover After Joint Replacement Surgery?

Recovery time depends on many factors, including how generally fit you were before surgery, how much prehab and preparation you did prior to the procedure and how committed you are to rehab after the surgery.

In general, after a total hip replacement, recovery time is about  4–6 weeks for a return to your daily activities and you should make a total recovery 6–12 months after surgery.

For total knee replacement surgery, most people can expect to see improvements in the first few months following surgery. It may take up to a year for your knee to fully heal and for you to regain optimal strength and function.
